2022 Photography Review
In this article, I share some of my favourite photographs taken for business and pleasure (often both!)
Highland Coo
We start on the West Highland Way at Inversnaid Bunkhouse for this fabulous Highland Cow. I was here to film some Gaelic stories for the West Highland Way team. Read more about my work for Scotland's first and most famous Great Trail at my marketing website.
Trossachs Wedding
I love photographing weddings and I was lucky enough to capture some amazing moments in 2022, including these two in a special outdoor ceremony at Gartmore House in the Trossachs, by Aberfoyle.
Port Ban
I have recently discovered a fantastic campsite at Kilberry in Argyll, overlooking Jura. The site is called Port Ban, and here’s the beautiful view at sunset. The beach is used for weddings, and I’d love to photograph one there; hopefully that will happen in 2023.
Tom Weir Statue
The Tom Weir Statue at Balmaha Bay, Loch Lomond, is just a few miles from me. This wonderful scenic area is the setting for my photography training courses, where I teach camera settings and techniques to improve photography. See forthcoming courses below:
Ploumanac'h Lighthouse
In 2022 I visited Brittany, France and fell in love with the people, food and scenery, especially the lighthouses. Pictured below is Ploumanac'h Lighthouse, at Perros-Guirec, on the granite coast.
Family Photography Session
2022 was a big year for Family Photography Sessions, and this wonderful family from the United States were staying at Cameron House Hotel, where I photographed them.
Carrick Castle
I captured this drone photograph whilst flying over the scenic and small community at Carrick Castle on Loch Goil in Argyll. I was there on a tour of Loch Lomond & The Trossachs to promote my new See Loch Lomond photo/guide book, which you can buy below.
Boturich Castle Engagement Shoot
Click here to learn more about this fantastic engagement photography session at Boturich Castle on Loch Lomond. Amazing weather, a lovely couple and a great setting, this was a wonderful afternoon!
Bass Rock Lighthouse
Another lighthouse features, this time a Scottish one, Bass Rock. I took this on a boat trip from North Berwick, which circled the island home to millions of birds.
Altskeith Country House Wedding
Making use of some incredible golden hour light, this is one of the couples whose wedding I photographed in 2022. These newlyweds were rowing a boat on Loch Ard, one of the unique experiences of a wedding at Altskeith Country House Hotel. I am delighted to be working with the owners of this fabulous venue on an exciting project this year.
Another Amazing Wedding
This time the venue is Loch Lomond Waterfront at Balmaha, here bride Hannah has the magnificent backdrop of Conic Hill behind her.
Ben A’an
One of the most popular hill climbs in Scotland is Ben A’an. I drive past this viewpoint most weeks to go to Loch Katrine, where I work on marketing projects; I love stopping to photograph this view in all weathers, this winter view photographed in December is my favourite, though.
Thanks for reading this blog with a few random choices of favourite photographs taken in 2022. in 2023 I have a photography competition
