Save Money on Your Scottish Wedding

Times are tough, and prices are high. Most of us are finding things difficult. It's a challenge to afford rising bills, let alone a holiday. But what about paying for a wedding, that once-in-a-lifetime day?

I hear people delay weddings for as much as a couple of years due to rising costs, which is understandable. However, what if you want to get married sooner? Is it possible to keep costs in check without losing the magic or meaning of the day?

Of course, you can have a wonderful wedding day without breaking the bank or starting married life with a mountain of debt.

I am a wedding photographer based in Loch Lomond, photographing weddings throughout Scotland. I've seen many weddings and wanted to share some ideas to help you save money on your Scottish wedding. I've also listed some ways I can help you, so please get in touch with me if you want to chat about any of the ideas.

Choose your Scottish Wedding Venue Carefully

Your venue choice is everything. Pick a venue that tailors to smaller numbers, and it ensures you keep the numbers down - 'Sorry couldn't invite you. We found this amazing venue, but the only downside is that numbers limit it.'

Get Married at Loch Lomond

You could choose a venue not close to home, which will reduce the number of people who can come! For that reason, many couples come to where I am (Loch Lomond & The Trossachs) - that and the fantastic scenery.

Celebrate a Small Wedding in Scotland

For some years, I've noticed a trend for smaller weddings; there is much to say about them. They are intimate, and it is a calmer, more chilled day for all involved.

Consider a Weekday Wedding

Weekdays are less of a way to make a saving these days as so many weddings are off a Saturday. However, some savings or more vendors may be available for a midweek wedding.

Exciting Places for Weddings in Scotland

I've photographed weddings at family homes, even lochside holiday rentals. You can get married almost anywhere in Scotland!

Save Money on Wedding Invitations

I also have a marketing business, and for couples that book me for wedding photography, I am offering them an at-cost digital service with their dedicated wedding website, which can handle invitations, etc. Please feel free to ask me for more information on that.

Be a Resourceful Wedding Planner

Here's a great idea for table plans (see above), print out the names of those on each table and put them in frames bought from a charity shop. Add a few framed wedding pictures from parents, etc., as a tribute to them.

Save on Photography Costs

I had to cover photography as a wedding photographer! I keep costs simple and am reluctant to push packages with items the couple doesn't need or want. Therefore it is simple you pay only for the coverage you need. I'll talk about the pictures you would like, regardless of whether it's a small, medium, or large wedding, and we'll find a way to do this as much as possible. There are ways to move things like cake cutting and speeches to help reduce costs.

I hope this helps if you are planning a Scottish wedding on a budget - do get in touch, as I can help you find a venue and other ways to keep costs down, including mine! We're in this together!!
